“Let My teaching fall like rain and My words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.”
~Deuteronomy 32:2~
Just as His flowers drink in the rain
So does my soul need nourishment.
Just as His flowers take root and grow
So does my soul need to sprout.
Like showers on new grass
Like abundant rain on new plants
So does my soul need nourishment.
Like His breath of color revealing the rose.
Like drops of water rolling down.
So does my soul need color.
Like morning mist
Like sunshine and breeze
So does my soul need nourishment.
~Inspired by this.~
It was as if God was showing me. He was teaching me. He was using this job. And all for His glory.
Last week, I was asked to water the garden, feed the plants, (and the dog) and watch the house while my neighbors were gone. Now, its been one full week. All this time I did my job. I performed it in no time.
And today, after opening my email, I read a prayer that inspired a whole new outlook.
"Oh Lord,I am a plant waterer. And just as they receive their nourishment daily through the water He supplies, so does my soul need nourishment.
May you cover us with your words. Help us to soak in your truths, just as your beautiful flowers drink in the rain. I pray we would let those words take root and grow. Help us to nourish these truths by spending time daily with you. Thank you Lord for loving us so greatly. For covering us with your words of wisdom, may we take these words and share them with those in our care. We love you Lord!
Amen."
As I let the plants drink, water rolls of the leaves.
As I let the rose bush drink, the fragrance hits my nose like a million fresh flower fans.
As I study the magnificent coloring, I am reminded of God's breath.
Nourishment. That's what we need. Everyday.
Flowers can't expect to grow if their watered a few times here and there. Like us, we need our time with Him. Like showers on new grass.
Do you feel alone? Because I truly struggle with this every. single. day. I spend more time with school than with Him. I crave to grow, to receive nourishment, but how foolish of me to think I will get it by not letting His Word soak "my soil".
Everyday I have one of these complaints: "I'm hungry." "I'm dehydrated." "I'm weak and tired."
Then I had to ask myself: how's my spiritual life doin'? Am I spiritually hungry? Or spiritually weak? Does my spirit need a drink of water? Oh, yes it does. I think it is overly dehydrated! If you drink one glass of water a day, that aint gonna do any good. We need it consistently throughout the day.
"As the deer pant for water, may my soul pant for you O God." ~Psalm 41:~
May our souls long for Jesus.
