What do you want to be remembered for?

Do you want to be remembered for being scared and fearful, or for being bold and fearless? For being rude and cruel, or for being kind and generous? Do you want to be remembered for being worldly and the same as everyone else? Or do you want to be different, and be a witness to the lost?

We all have that fear in us at one point, and it keeps us from opportunities the LORD has set out for us. Opportunities for growth and spiritual development. It can keep us from His will and from important lessons. My mom always tells me, "Don't let fear paralyze you". She says this every time I have to make a presentation in front of the class, or if I have an important test. Even the little things such as wearing something that might earn a few laughs. Don't let fear paralyze you from doing the things God is calling you to do. Its true, and it held me back. A lot.

I recently read that to be paralyzed by fear is an indication that you question God's ability to take care of you. I realize all of these things are hard to do.

Sometimes we just don't want to be kind to an enemy. Maybe we don't feel like putting on a smile today. We may feel like we need to fit in or we won't be liked or accepted.

I have been through the fear of all of these things. But I'm learning that its just no use in being afraid. Its easy to feel happy one moment, to feel encouraged and courageous, but I understand that its also tempting to get discouraged by one little set back.

Just last week, I had an opportunity to witness to a new friend. I've been asking God to give me an opportunity to share my faith and to tell him the good news of such a loving God. I invited him to the Bible club at my school, and he went.

Its not always easy to witness to others. For some, its a fear of rejection. For me, its a fear of pushing people away and coming off pushy. I guess I just want to sound loving, I know this is something in my heart the Lord is helping me with.

I just want to encourage you to step out in Faith the next time you get the opportunity to share God with others. Its not always an easy task, but this day in age, we need to reach the lost. How can we sit there and do nothing?

Just remember, God IS with you, don't be afraid. The next time you feel that fear stirring up inside of you, just remember these few verses to give you encouragement.

I usually have a composition notebook with me all the time, and I write encouraging verses, quotes and helpful inspiration in it. Read them over and over, and let them soak in your heart..

" Do not be afraid, I am your shield, your very great reward." -Genesis 15:1

"I am not alone. My father is always with me. He will strengthen me and uphold me. He will take me by the hand and show me which way I should go." - Isaiah 41:10

"Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders. Make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."- Colossians 4: 5,6

So, have you thought of what you want to be remembered for?

Its so much more than just being remembered. Its about how you live your life now, and what you are doing to glorify God.

Jesus challenges our life style.

Great post, Amber. I agree with Hannha P; it made me think, and I love when a piece of writing touches me in some way ;) It's so easy to live a life of fear and failure, but by trusting God and having faith, we don't have to hide around a wall of worry and disappointment :)

Excellent post and one that really proved challenging to me personally. I do want to be remembered as someone who was sold out to God and thanks for reminding me to persue that with a stronger fervor. By the way, I'm not sure if I've visited your blog before so I apologized if I've stopped by and never commented. If you'd like, feel welcome to drop by my blog. Footprints in the Sand is my main blog. Oh, I arrived here from the followers gadget on Loca Chica's blog.
