Destination Heaven

Journey

Walking, tripping, falling.
Out of breath.
Panting for something.
Water, maybe.
Stuck in a rut.

Narrowness overpowers me.
This road is narrow.
Can I go on?
Will I become faint?

Here I am.
I am panting for something.
Water, maybe.
Still stuck in a rut.

Wind in my face.
Mud in my hair.
Trembling over my sadness.
I am lost.
I don't know where I am.

Then I saw You.
Standing by the side of the narrow road.
All of a sudden my path was looking clear.
But the mud was still there.
The wind still blew.
But You grabbed my hand.
Yes, you took it and led me.
Then, this journey became real.
I was not walking alone anymore.

Where was I going?
How was I going to get there?
Where was my map?

My map was You, and You were the Word.
I knew where to turn
I knew where to go
I was no longer lost

Then the wind started blowing again.
Agony filled me.
I started to cry.
I wanted to stop walking, just for a moment.

Panting.
Panting for what?
Water, maybe.

No, I was panting for You.
I was lost.
I let go of Your hand.

And then you met me at the intersection.
I ran into Your arms
And You held me so close.
"We are almost there" You said.

Your hand was held out to me again.
And I took it.
I squeezed it.
I never want to let go.

We are on our way
Down the narrow road.
Destination is coming up
Destination Heaven.

I came to thinking tonight that we are on a life long journey. Everyday you have to walk over a bump. May be big, may be small. But that bump is there in the road.

Sometimes it rains. Hard. Hard, fast, and long. And sometimes you forget to bring your umbrella.

Some days, its hot. Its dry. You are thirsty.

And them some days you are weak. You can't go on. You stop for a while on the side of the road. You give up walking.

But there are days where you are strong! Your are practically running down that road. The wind is blowing in your hair, the sunshine is kissin' your cheeks, the birds are singing along to your melodies. And you are loving life.

This journey--life as you may call it, is hard. The road is narrow and steep. And yes, sometimes you trip and fall. But what I have come to realize is, no matter the storms or bumps or rain--Jesus is holding our hand walking right beside us. Guiding us. Directing us. Picking us up when we fall on that dirt road. Instead of panting for water, we pant for Him. We thirst for His Word--our road map.

We may have those very hard days on our journey, and we may have beautiful joyful ones too. But no matter what, your destination is coming up. As He is guiding you through life, oh what a joy to finally reach that expected destination--Heaven!

the day for poems

I was "directed" to a site that allowed me to write a poem only using the words given.
(Oh and Bess, if you're reading this..it was that site on your blog you said "click on the picture to play some fun games"..hehe)
The result? A very weird, yet creative poem.

I sit here catching wind.
Playing with daffodils and catching wind.
If I laugh here,
The blue birds laugh.
And we go on laughing and catching wind.

I sit here throwing sunshine.
Chasing rain and throwing sunshine.
If I sing here,
The blue birds sing.
And we go on singing and throwing sunshine.

I admit no sense is made in this poem. But the way I see it, is that the people who do read it, make it sense of their own. They can either relate to it, or make their own understanding. To me that's what poetry is all about. Not necessarily that poet making any sense whatsoever or understanding what they wrote. Or even writing what they know. They sort of put the words together to form this "image" for others to look at and gaze upon.

The Dad of all Dad's.

It's a poem about my Dad.
It was written right after a poem of a little bit of self pity.
But while writing it, I cried. He has a way of doing that to me!

 He has the shovel.
But He also has really strong hands.
He's my Daddy, He lets me sit on His lap.

He grabbed my hand today, and squeezed it real tight.
His hands are firm, yet comfortable.

He wiped my tear.
He kissed my cheek too.
I bet He's done that to you!

My Dad held me up.
He cheered me on!
"You can do this Amber" He said,  "I know you can!"

Did you know He whispered in my ear?
Yup, it's true.
It was soft, and His breath felt warm.

My Dad made me cry.
Don't worry, in a good way.
But you wanna know what else?
He let me cry on His shoulder.

Guess what?
My Dad said He would take me places.
Oh, that made me excited!
He also declared He would never let me down.
Did you know that I trust Him?

Guess what else?
My Daddy's a king.
Yes it's true.
Yeah, I know. I was blown away too.

I guess you could say, my Daddy has powers.
That would fit a king, right?
But my Daddy is more powerful
More handsome than a knight.

My Daddy's love for me is endless.
It's not black nor blue.
My Daddy told me to tell you something:
My Daddy is your Daddy too.
